UI improvements suggestions

PostFri Oct 18, 2019 8:41 am

Hi,
I'd like to use this thread to post UI suggestions for a more fluent workflow and userfriendly use.

I'll start with this.
When you select a layer, you get the name ofthe layer highlighted like this
Image
But as soon as you change something on the settings of that layer, the name of the layer isn't highlighted anymore.

Is it possible to still have the name highlighted?

Another point on this.
Due to the scrolling to tweak settings, the layers list disappear.
Is it possible to have just the layer list blocked and leave the other settings to scroll?

Again about layers.
Is it possible to have the layer name as editable with out using the filename of the leaves (for example).
In this way, when you duplicate some layers, you can use a different name to better identify what you are going to modify.

In the texture atlas window is it possible to add some Zoom In/Out button?
I use a Wacom pen instead of mouse and I don't have wheel like mouse to zoom in and out.
With some zoom button I'll be able to do it.
Thanks in advance

1) keeping layers listview item highlighted is not possible, this is a result of one windows element changing focus on a separate element.

2) the best I can do here would be add an additional window that contains leaf/mesh layers.

3) there is a "rename layer" button that does this already.

4) I won't be adding support for anything other than mouse/keyboard, you can use + - keys to zoom in/out.

1) Ok
2) If I've well understood it seems good.
3) Sorry.. I haven't thought about it.
4) Ok. It's enough. In the key shortcuts window those controls are not listed, if you add them it will be better. I don't want to perservere on this request cause I've clearly understood your reply and actually my request was not for supporting different devices than mouse or keyboard but just add a zoom controls in the UI. I've made a mockup of what I'm suggesting

If it was already clear and you don't want to add anything on this, no problem. Now I can use the -/+ button and I think it's fine.

I've found a typo error.

"Step" is wrong in "Step" and "Randomize Setp" in all "Yaw Mode"

I've downloaded the latest build.
I've seen that you added some of my suggestions.
Thank you very much. If I have something more to suggest I'll do here.

I've another suggestions inspired during the creation of texture about group of leaves for lowpoly trees.

1. Is it possible to save the orthographic camera position and zoom?
When you create a texture with a group of leaves, you have to move the camera and zoom in/out to fill the camera space as much as possible.
It could be useful to save these tweaks so when you reopen the project you have the camera position&zoom saved and you can recreate textures without recenter the 3dmodel.
If ortographic view are fixed, you should add a "custom" camera(s) that should be used as slots to save the right cameras position and zooom.

2. Is it possible to add the opportunity to rotate the orthographic camera (and save together with position and zoom) ? sometimes a little rotation helps to take the 3dmodel inside the rendered space without tweaking branches to bend them.

There is a typo in the toolbar and menu.
"Texture Atlis" should be "Texture Atlas".

Downloaded latest build 4th of January.
There is a typo on the toolbar for the "leaf/mesh layers".
Now it's "leaf/maesh layers"... it should be "leaf/mesh layers"
