How to - Make Pipe Curves

Make Pipe Curves!

Ok, so Im going to make some tutorials on a few things regarding mapscape showing some cool things that can be done with it that are quite difficult in other editors.

1) We`ll start off by disabling auto mapping, this is important as we want the texture to wrap properly. Select our cylinder primitive and add 4 y-segments and make a cylinder. we can also create a 4-sided wedge to help us reference where our vertices need to end up.

2) With our cylinder selected enter select vertex mode and multi-select by holding control the the top most vertices, this can easily be done via box selection by clicking and dragging out a selection box. Now hold shift + left mouse button to group rotate vertices by 90 degrees, then hold control + left mouse to move vertices as a group. We my also need to dec grid size for better accuracy. Unhold shift/control and click anywhere to deselect vertices.
note: If you hold control + left mouse when moving vertices and then release the control key, vertex will snap to grid.

3) Select and move rest of the vertices in the same manner alongside the 4-sided wedge. We should now have a cylinder with a nice even bend.

4) make conjoining cylinders.

5) Our uv mapping is now stretched out and looks out of place.

6) Enter select face mode to fix this, and adjust the V value.

7) add some fixtures (not necessary though).

8) Group pipes together.

9) Build a little scene for the final results (remember to enable auto mapping!).
