Exporting .X Meshes with Multiple Textures

Hello, I was wondering how do you successfully hooked a texture to an exported mesh? How does MapScape properly read an X file with multiple textures? Is there a specific or recommended tool to use when converting the meshes to X format and import it to mapscape. Currently, I have to apply the texture manually to my object meshes whereas the sample meshes got this covered.
